BPI SPORTS CHASE FORMAT

This is in direct response to NASCAR Cup's Chase format, which is in need of some fine tuning since the "Win" format was adopted prior to the 2007 Cup season.

-The leader at the end of the "regular season" will begin the Chase with 5100 points.

-Each Chase driver thereafter will begin 0.2 points behind the leader for every 1 "regular season" point.

-If any Chase driver is behind 500 or more "regular season" points at the beginning of the Chase, they will start at 5000 points; no Chase driver will start with less than that point total.

Here is an example of how the BPI Sports Chase Format works, using the 1992 standings after 26 races...

The Chase can't merely be ordered by wins, especially when there are 43 cars in every race.  Sure the actual points ensure that the top 12 drivers in the "regular season" make the Chase, however, alienating almost 98% of the "regular season" results is not the best way to order drivers at the beginning of the championship quest, thus I present this alternative that properly orders all Chase drivers based upon their entire 26-race "regular season" performance.
